A Note to Our Members

As we look forward to another golf season, I am excited about the opportunities ahead and confident that 2027 will be a wonderful year of golf, fellowship, and lasting friendships. We have an exciting tournament schedule planned, with opportunities to enjoy some of South Carolina's finest golf courses.

As your incoming president, I would like to share a few thoughts about the future of our association and how each of us can help make it even stronger.

While we are fortunate to have a wonderful membership, participation in our monthly tournaments has declined in recent years. Your Board recognizes that there are many reasons for this, and we are committed to finding ways to encourage greater participation. With just six tournaments each year, we hope more of our members will make these events a priority and enjoy the camaraderie that makes our association so special.

The SCSWGA is about more than golf. It is a community of women brought together by a shared love of the game, wonderful friendships, and the opportunity to meet new people. Whether you have been a member for many years or are joining us for the first time, we want you to feel welcomed, valued, and excited to participate.

As we prepare for the coming season, we are asking for your help in two important areas.

Growing Our Membership and Tournament Participation

We encourage each of you to invite your friends, neighbors, and fellow golfers to become part of the SCSWGA. Remind them that you do not have to be a single-digit handicap golfer to participate! Our association welcomes women golfers ages 50 and older, with a wide range of playing abilities. Sometimes, all it takes is a personal invitation to encourage someone to join us.

And to our current members, we hope to see more of you participating in our tournaments. Your presence truly makes a difference!

Helping Secure Future Tournament Venues

Finding golf courses willing to host our tournaments continues to be a challenge. Unlike larger golf associations that have established relationships with numerous clubs, we often depend on the personal connections of our members. We ask that you consider reaching out to your club's golf professional, general manager, or board of trustees to explore the possibility of hosting an SCSWGA event. Our 2027 schedule is complete, but it is never too early to begin planning for 2028 and beyond. Your assistance in opening these doors would be greatly appreciated.

As I look back at the history of the SCSWGA and the remarkable women who have been part of this association, I am reminded of the wonderful legacy we have inherited. It is a tradition worth preserving, and with your continued support, one we can proudly carry forward.
